Graveyard Ghost

Sent in by Maureen MacPherson

I live inInverness, Scotland and it was relatively easy to get from onearea of Inverness to another through the local cemetry. As theeasiest route to my grandfathers home from mine was through thecemetry it was a natural occurence to take that shortcut, whenever sent to relay a message. (pre my grandfather owning atelephone). I would have been 10 or 11 when this particularparanormal incident occured, I had been sent to see mygrandfather, by my mother and as usual set of through thegraveyard. As I walked through I noticed an elderly man bent overa grave arranging flowers, I presumed, and I turned away, butbeing the inquisitive child I was i wanted to see to whom thegrave belonged and turned my head to look, no more than a fewseconds later, and the man had disappeared. Now the way thecemetry is laid out there was nowhere anyone could have gone insuch a short space of time, so that they wouldn't be seen, so Igot a bit panicky and ran the rest of the way t! ! o mygrandparents, which was a good ten minutes away still.

After I returned home (taking the long route) I told my motherwhat had happened and described the spot where I saw the ghost asby now i was sure it was. A few days later again using thegraveyard as a shortcut I was with my mother and I pointed to thegrave i had seen the 'man' bent over, and my mother went quitewhite and said that the grave was the one in which her maternalgrandfather was buried. Having never known her natural mother, that side of the family was never talked about and it was thefirst time I knew of this now long dead relation. I know forspookiness value this story doesn't rate very high, but maybethat was just a message from somewhere letting me know there ispeople that I ought to know about.

The name of the cemetry is Tomnaurich which translted from thegaelic means 'hil of the fairies' to which there is a lot offolklore attatched. Which will be related to you at another date.
