I can't say that I've actually seen a ghost or a spirit; but I know that my home is haunted by something. I lived in the same house my whole life, but there are times when I can't even be alone. I will be submitting more stories, since this is only one of the many things that has happened in my home.
One time when I was about twelve, my mother took my grandmother to her doctor's appointment which was towards late afternoon. I decided to stay home and chill expecting in a few hours that they will return. Eventually I ended up falling asleep and when I awoke it was already going for 8 at night and still they didn't return. Then all of a sudden I heard our front door open and close. Now the doors in my house have very distinct sounds, plus when you shut a door the whole house seems to vibrate. I immediately rushed to the top of the stairs and called down to them, but remembered that it was impossible for them to come in since we had a chain lock on the door at the time and they needed me to open it. I went back into my room and locked the door hoping that it was just my imagination.
Then suddenly I heard hard footsteps on the stairs, now my house is old so the stairs creek horribly even when someone is barely stepping on them so I knew I wasn't hearing things. Then I heard something stopping by my door which is at the top of the stairs. At the time I had two cats that stayed in my room. My one cat tiger had his back arched all the way up and his hair was standing straight up and he wouldn't move from my door. Then I saw my doorknob slightly move, thank God it was locked. A few moments later I heard it move towards the bathroom and heard it put on the light, then the light went off and it moved back to my door and the knob moved again. I was freaking out, eventually my mom called sayng that they went shopping afterwards and I was crying and screaming that she better come home.
Since my home is a double block ( my grandmother lived on the otherside), they came in her side and came through the attic to get me. I wouldn't even go downstairs to open the door for them, I didn't even want to leave my room. And for a good many weeks I couldn't be left alone.
